On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of writer, linguist and philologist Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah, Bangalee Shamagra Museum (BSM) is holding an exhibition at its gallery on Elephant Road, Dhaka
The exhibition displays memorabilia and publications by and on Dr. Shahidullah.
Bangalee Shamagra makes regular efforts to preserve and display the works of eminent Bengalis from different fields.
The exhibition was inaugurated recently by Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid. National professor Kabir Chowdhury; eminent physician MR Khan; noted poet and educationist Ahmed Rafiq and author Mahmud Shah Qureshi, among others, were present at the programme.
At the exhibition, some manuscripts of Dr. Shahidullah's books, including “Mohabani,” “Bangla Shahityer Kotha” and “Bangla Byakaron” are on display. Some items that were used by Dr. Shahidullah like his glasses, wallet, visiting card, letters, postcards etc are also on display.
The exhibition also includes some rare photographs of Dr. Shahidullah with Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi, Motahar Hossain and other historic figures.
Dr. Shahidullah was a polyglot and an expert in philology. Some of the manuscripts feature his handwriting in different languages. Some of the images show Dr. Shahidullah in Paris at different locations -- at his study room, with his family members and at the hospital where he was admitted before his death in 1969.
The exhibition continues till July 30.
