Where mark is art

NPO Earth Identity Projects, Japan and Paper Studio in collaboration with Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts have jointly organised a graphic at exhibition at the Bengal Gallery in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The exhibition began on July 30.

Noble laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. Charges d'Affaires of Embassy of Japan, Harumitsu Hida, was present as guest of honour. Professor Tsuyoshi Nara was present as special guest at the inaugural programme.

The exhibition features winning entries from the Conqueror Corporate Identity Design Contest 2010, Bangladesh along with artworks of Hiromi Inayoshi. Inayoshi has been working in the field of graphic design for the last 20 years, designing logos for organisations and individuals including heads of states and VIPs. Among the famous personalities that he has designed personal marks for include the King of Thailand, the Sultan of Brunei and singer Celine Dion. However, it is Inayoshi's commitment to designing for social change that sets him apart from his contemporaries. Inayoshi has engaged himself with social activities by attaching himself to the Earth Identity Projects, a non-profit organisation that aims to promote world peace through cultural exchange.

At the Conqueror Corporate Identity Design Contest, Abul Hashem Bappy won gold medal in the category of set theme student section; Shalim Hossain Saju earned a gold medal in the category of set theme professional designer section and M.A. Raihan received a gold medal with Taka 1 lakh in the free theme section. Mishuk Dutta received the Special H.I. Award in the set theme student section and Sabina Yasmin won a silver award with Tk 50,000 in the category of free theme section.

Paper Studio along with Earth Identity Projects, Japan jointly organised the Conqueror Corporate Identity Design Contest 2010, which was held on June 7 at Radius Centre in Gulshan, Dhaka. Creative professionals from leading advertising agencies of Bangladesh and graphic design students from different universities of Dhaka attended the contest.

Hiromi Inayoshi said, “My philosophy is to lead an artistic life. An artistic life means to be free and obsessed with nothing. My philosophy is that mark is art. I have many plans for the future, and they all aim at using design/art to lead the world to true peace.”
