The cabinet on Monday approved the proposal of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (Amendment) Act 2010 to boost up the country’s agricultural research especially in the field of rice and jute.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the authorities to provide logistic support to the researchers and to relax their job age limit.
The directive came at the weekly cabinet meeting held at Bangladesh Secretariat with the premier in the chair.
Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad told newsmen after the meeting.
Hasina asked the agriculture minister to take measures so that the research council would not face any financial crisis.
She said the existing agriculture research fund should be expanded for providing financial support to the researchers, if needed.
The cabinet appreciated the prime minister for being in the list of top 10 women leaders in the world as revealed by the Time Magazine.
