Workers and employees of the Biman Bangladesh started demonstration at its Balaka headquarters again since Thursday afternoon demanding reinstatement of pension schemes, and salary hike in line with the government announced pay scale.
Over 300 aggrieved staff of the country's largest airliner started the demonstration around 2:00pm chanting slogans.
They demanded continuation of pension schemes, and pay hikes equivalent to what government employees got through a new pay scale announced in November last year.
Meanwhile, Biman Board of Directors led by its chairman Air Marshal (retd) Jamal Uddin Ahmed is holding a meeting to review the new pay scale announced for its staffs on August 28.
On August 31, the Biman workers and employees protested the new pay scale that scraps pension schemes, and gives pay raises lower than expected.
According to the new salary structure, around 3,000 permanent workers and employees stand to lose their pensions.
