The workers of two readymade garment factories at the capital's suburb Ashulia and Savar went on work abstention Thursday morning demanding arrears and Eid bonus.
Officer-in-charge Mahabubur Rahman of Savar Police Station said the workers of Fa Apparel Limited located at Joynabari did not join work in the morning demanding arrears and Eid bonus.
Meanwhile, the workers of Natural Denim Garment Factory are observing work abstention since morning for the second day at Tongibari for full payment of Eid-bonus, Prothom Alo reports.
Sirajul Islam, the OC of Ashulia Police Station, said the workers started demonstration on Wednesday.
They withdrew their agitation after four hours as the authorities assured them of giving 60 percent Eid bonus and meeting other demands.
Later, the authorities declared holiday for that day.
The workers went to the factory on Thursday morning but went on work abstention to press home their demand, Sirajul Islam said.
A large number of police and Rapid Action Battalion personnel have been deployed on the factory premises to avert any untoward incident, he added.
