Preparations are nearly over for Eid-Ul-Fitr congregation at Sholakia Eidgah ground, the largest of its kind in the sub-continent.
Chief of the Eidgah ground committee, deputy commissioner Siddiqur Rahman, said that the congregation would start at 10am on Eid day.
Maulana Farid Uddin Masud will head the congregation this year that houses around 250,000 devotees.
Three sets of gunshots will give the countdown to the start of the prayer. A shotgun will be fired thrice five minutes before the start, twice before three minutes and once at the start of the final minute.
In 1828 Masnad-e-Ala, the sixth generation descendant of Isa Khan founded the ground that stretches seven acres by the river Narsunda.
Locals alleged that the ground lacks sufficient facility to accommodate devotees who come to attend the congregation from long distances.
Addressing this issue the deputy commissioner said that they have plans to call for a large tender to build the facilities.
