At least six people, including an unidentified woman, were killed in a road accident on the Chapainawabganj-Dhaka Highway in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi Saturday morning.
Three others were also injured in the accident, reports our Rajshahi staff correspondent.
The deceased were identified as Tariqul, 48, Mohammad Ali, 36, Mohammad Alosh Ali, 30, Dedarul Islam, 25, and Fardeen, 12.
The accident occurred around 9:45am when a Rajshahi-bound bus from Chapainawabganj rammed into a Chapainawabganj-bound tempo in time of overtaking a truck in Kamarpara area of the upazila, Godagari police chief Zakirul Islam said. All the victims are from the tempo.
Three of the deceased died on the spot while the woman died on the way to Godagari Upazila Health Complex and the remaining two died after admitting to the health complex.
Agitating locals blocked the highway nearly for an hour protesting the killings.
Normalcy came to the highway when police seized the bus.
