35 more BDR men taken on remand

Thirty-five more BDR Jawans were placed on remand yesterday in the Peelkhana mutiny case, while five other Jawans made confessions about their involvement in the incident.

Court Correspondent -- Thirty-five more BDR Jawans were placed on remand yesterday in the Peelkhana mutiny case, while five other Jawans made confessions about their involvement in the incident.

They are : Habildar Emamul Hoque, Lance Nayeks Habibullah, Amir Hossain, sepoys Monwar Hossain and Saiduzzaman. On completion of recording the confessional statements made under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure - CrPC, the confessors were sent to jail with other sixteen Jawans.

Meanwhile, eight Jawans were brought to the Court from the jail yesterday and the Criminal Investigation Department-CID sought a ten-day demand for interrogation in the case, while Metropolitan Magistrate Mominul Hassan granted remand for five days each.

Besides, forty-three border guards were produced before the Court on completion of remand and the CID sought an eight-day remand afresh to quiz twenty-seven of them more, while Magistrate Mominul Hassan granted remand for four days each and others were sent to jail.
