Prime minister Sheikh Hasina departed for Kuwait Sunday afternoon on a three-day visit to hold bilateral talks with leaders of the Sheikhdom.
She left Dhaka on a special aircraft, sent by Kuwaiti Amir Sabah Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, shortly after 2pm, an official of the PM's Office said.
Cabinet members, chiefs of the armed forces and other top officials were at Zia International Airport to see off the prime minister and her entourage.
The delegation includes foreign minister Dipu Moni, expatriate welfare and overseas employment minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, state minister for environment Hasan Mahmud, ambassador at large M Ziauddin, her chief secretary MA Karim and press secretary Abul Kalam Azad.
A foreign ministry spokesperson has said the prime minister will discuss the problems of Bangladeshi workers with the Kuwaiti Amir.
Other programmes include a banquet of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce, a reception by expatriate Bangladeshis and visiting the Ahmedia Kuwait Oil Company.
The prime minister will return home on Wednesday.
