Main opposition BNP will hold a rally on Thursday afternoon to protest renaming of the Zia International Airport.
"We have taken up programmes to protest the government's decision to change the name of ZIA," senior BNP joint secretary general Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir told bdnews24.com on Thursday.
The cabinet on Monday decided that the Zia International Airport would be renamed Hazrat Shahjalal Airport.
Alamgir said the central protest rally will be held at 3pm at Muktangan. Apart from that, demonstrations will be held in all districts.
He said they were also protesting against deteriorating law and order situation, alleged torture and killing of party leaders and activists and high prices of essential commodities.
BNP office secretary Rizvi Ahmed said they had asked party leaders and workers across the country to observe the programme.
